Samarai

It is supposed that from 30 October 1945 PMG'S DEPT A4 Relief cds was used at Samarai post office. So far no cover is known. It may be doubted whether this cds was ever used at Samarai as at least until December 1945 the Australian Field Post cds "AUST UNIT POSTAL STN - 395" was used at the civil post office.

The Samarai cds was introduced February 1946.

Early registered covers carry Australian registration labels.

Its use was interrupted twice because of damage. Relief postmarkers were used during these periods.
