The post office at Kieta opened September 23, 1946.
At the post office stamps were available. Mail was transferred to Buka Passage or Rabaul for cancellation. A date stamp was only received after November 6, 1947.

The first date stamp was replaced in April 1949.

From mid-1951 until mid-1952, we see the use of provisional registration labels in conjunction with a formular rubber stamp.

It is interesting to note that the first withdrawn date stamp was brought back into service in 1964 after fifteen years and used for a further seven years.
